Fam, it’s been a crazy last few months. In the wake of the murders of unarmed black people (Ahmaud, Breonna, George, Michael, and Atatiana to name just a few) in recent months, it’s no wonder people are taking to the streets in protest. Now more than ever is the time to stand with our POC friends and neighbors, and Americans have been taking the call seriously. A poll released this month tells of the national awareness of inequality and how more than half of Americans say excessive force is used more with black people than white people . With this in mind, the last month has seen an unprecedented outcry – everyone’s joining the marches, both big and small. Below are some of our favorite shots of these small activists, proving to the world that cuteness and advocacy are not mutually exclusive.

Fearless and mask-clad, this pint-sized activist joins the resistance in Atlanta. In an interview with an Atlanta-based teacher, NPR reported that the fight extends to systemic racism in education. “…I think that we need to struggle to get more black teachers in the workforce. But we also need to expect that the white teachers teach for black lives.”

From Twitter: “Protect these kids from racism and harm.” ‘Don’t Shoot’ is a tribute to Michael Brown, who was shot and killed by police in the summer of 2014. He was 18 years old. The phrase was popularized after his death and is frequently used in BLM signage and activism against police brutality.

These kiddos in Seattle staged their own Black Lives Matter protest and the cuteness is reaaaaal (we see your arm, blueshirt). According to reports, the Carr family put on the popcorn stand to fundraise for the movement and bring awareness to their own diverse family. “For us and our kids, when we say BLM, we are going after the bigger picture — there are many challenges and inequities that face POCs. Our kids know that there are lots of colors out there and that sometimes people treat those with dark skin in mean ways, which is not nice. That’s why Black Lives matter.”

Several young girls and their parents gathered together to stand up for Black Lives Matter. Nearly 80 participants in this small Missouri town rallied around the cause and chanted “Black Lives Matter!” in solidarity. “This is so good for LaBelle,” a local activist commented. “We are a small town, but look at us! Look at this turn out! It gives me hope.” You go, girls.

Latinx people have been showing the BLM movement some activist love! A member of the Mexican community and his adorable son join a protest in Orange, California. From Marlene Cordova, a student at Cal State Los Angeles: “I might not have every answer or know how to help proactively, but I’m willing to learn. I’m eager to break old habits and speak up against my own people to stand up for what I believe is right. For me, that’s living a life of justice for those who never got the chance to do so.”
